Motorola's History Started Out as a Telecommunications Company in 1928

The launch of the Motorola ThinkPhone in stores will be one to watch and could potentially lead to even more future announcements from Motorola. In the meantime, those looking to purchase one should keep an eye on store availability over the next month.

Motorola is an American multinational telecommunications company founded in 1928. It rose to prominence in the 1980s by introducing its popular mobile phone. Over the years, the company has expanded its product portfolio beyond mobile phones, offering a range of consumer electronics, such as TVs and radio receivers.

The Company Initially Started as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation but Changed Its Name Later On

The company started as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation in Chicago, founded by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin. The brothers made radios and other home appliances, and their company was renamed the Motorola brand in 1947.

Motorola created the first handheld mobile phone in 1973, the first mountain bike-style Motorola bag phone in 1983, and the original flip phone, the StarTAC, in 1996. Today, Motorola mobile phones are renowned for their sleek design and eye-catching colors.

The company also produces a range of tough phones that are military-grade and water-resistant. Customers can choose whether to purchase a Motorola phone under a contract or buy a SIM-free model and activate it on a network plan.
