Alóki tackles a new frontier by reconnecting people to nature through blockchain technology. Its play-to-own metaverse will provide entertainment and amusement but also enable users to do good for the planet and help build a sustainable future for society at large.

The efforts by Alóki focus on the Costa Rican jungle, of which 750 acres will be digitized in the native metaverse. Users can wander through life-life wilderness while establishing real-world development at that same location. It is a different take on Play-to-Earn and introduces Play-to-Own mechanics where users can win physical real estate or access to the Alóki jungle village.

The vast project spans a jungle plot in Costa Rica, bought by Alóki founders Maurycy Krzastek and Bartek Lechowski for $7 million, and has been christened "Alóki Sanctuary". The choice for Costa Rica is straightforward: it is a neutral and peaceful region without an army. Instead, the government allocates the money they would spend on an army to education and healthcare.

Furthermore, Costa Rica is a top-20 bio-diverse country in the world, with 27% of the landscape protected in reserves and national parks. In addition, the country's focus on sustainability - 98% of its electricity comes from renewable sources - paves the way for achieving carbon neutrality.

That carbon neutrality ties into the Alóki vision, as the NFTs that grant access to this metaverse are linked to carbon credits. The team uses a dedicated 3D scan model developed in cooperation with NASA. All funds from the NFT sale are said to be used to expand the Sanctuary, enabling supporters to do their part in saving the environment while educating themselves on sustainability.

Alóki users can own a piece of the Costa Rican jungle through the play-to-own model. Ultimately, the goal is to establish communal buildings to house coworking and social spaces, yoga and meditation places, and a village of casitas (small jungle houses for Alóki community members).

By digitizing the Alóki Sanctuary into a metaverse, users can wander through the meticulously recreated virtual jungle and gets hands-on experience with the project. While users can own objects and land, the overarching message remains focused on respecting nature and ecology.

That becomes apparent once the metaverse actions spill over into the physical Alóki Sanctuary. Players who reach particular levels will have their digital actions turned into real-world efforts, including planting real trees. Gamifying positive environmental change is a powerful approach that anyone can contribute to.

Furthermore, the players can convert their game experience to an all-expenses-paid trip to stay in casitas in the Costa Rican jungle. During their stay, they will engage in various activities, including ceremonies, sharing circles, medication, a treasure hunt, and waterfall hikes. It serves as a "bonus" for players who actively build structures in the game, such as yoga decks, shrines, etc.

The allocation of 750 acres of land in Costa Rica to this project illustrates the magnitude of the Alóki vision.
