Amazon Prime subscription price increases in the United Kingdom (UK) after maintaining its monthly and annual fees at the same cost for several years.
It comes shortly after other streaming services, such as Netflix, have also jacked up their subscription fees.

Amazon Prime Subscription Price Increase UK
As per the latest news story by BBC, Amazon Prime, the subscription service of the renowned tech giant, is increasing its prices for its customers in the UK.
The UK-based news outlet notes that the last time that Amazon raised the price of its Prime subscription service in the British nation was way back in 2014.
But after nearly a decade, Amazon Prime is jacking up its subscription price in the UK, raising both its annual and monthly fees.
The monthly membership fee of Amazon Prime gets a 1 Euro increase, jacking up its price to 8.99 Euros.
Meanwhile, the annual subscription cost raises by 16 Euros, increasing it from the previous fee of 79 Euros yearly to a more expensive fee of 95 Euros.
The tech behemoth states that the increased pricing for its subscription service starts this September.
Why is Amazon Raising Prime Subscription Fee
Amazon explains that its recent decision to jack up the prices of Prime subscription fees is all due to both "increased inflation and operating costs."
BBC further notes in its story that the inflation in the UK has already breached the 9% threshold, which, in turn, increased the price of goods in the British nation.
According to a recent report by ITV, the spokesperson of Amazon boasts that its Prime service provides subscribers "the best of shopping and entertainment, and continues to improve each year."
To be less vague about it, the Amazon spokesperson discloses that they have been adding more products to its fast and unlimited Prime delivery, including fresh grocery goods.
Not to mention that Prime also gives access to various digital content, including highly-regarded movies and original series like The Boys.
ITV notes that Amazon is working to release the upcoming The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power series on its streaming platform this September. The tech giant reportedly shelled out a staggering £750 million to make this possible.
On top of these offerings, Prime also offers various gaming titles and books.

How to Cancel Amazon Prime Subscription
Amazon notes that Prime subscribers have options to either switch their monthly plan to an annual membership or to cancel it altogether once the new pricing begins.
As per the report by Mashable, subscribers could cancel their subscription by heading to the Account option on the Amazon app.
Then, select "Account Settings," and go straight to "Manage Prime Membership." From there, tap the "End Membership" button.
