Hummer EV Extract Mode

Now that the initial deliveries of the all-new Hummer EV, the greener take of General Motors to its gas-guzzling SUV, have begun, its owners are getting a new remarkable feature.

As per a news story by Engadget, GMC plans to add an all-new Extract Mode to its Hummer EV.

The upcoming feature vows to lift the 9,000 pounds electric pickup higher than any other similar trucks out there. Essentially, it allows drivers of the Hummer EV to step up their off-roading game.

The Extract Mode feature significantly lifts the Hummer EV by a total of six inches from the ground. The elevation then allows the massive SUV to keep away from any annoying obstacles like massive debris while going over rocky terrain.

Engadget notes that the additional six inches of lift give the all-electric SUV 15.9 inches of ground clearance.

The news outlet notes that it notably towers over off-road offerings these days, such as the Ram TRX and the all-electric Rivian R1T, to name a few.

How to Get Hummer EV Extract Mode

The current and new owners of the Hummer EV are in for a treat as GM plans to release the new suspension feature to its customers through a software update. Meaning to say, Extract Mode is rolling out as if it was a new feature on your smartphone.

Yes, all you need is an internet connection to get the over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Well, except for a few owners. According to a recent report by Electrek, GMC says that some Hummer EV owners need to bring their vehicles to the nearest dealership to change the height sensor. But the rest would only need to get the software update.

When to Use Hummer EV Extract Mode

While getting a remarkable ground clearance sure sounds fun to use all the time, GMC warns against doing so.

The automaker notes that the Extract Mode should only be turned on when driving at low speeds. What's more, using it for an extended amount of time requires the vehicle to cool off.
