Apple's report on the M1 Ultra's GPU performance is not that accurate when it came to actual tests performed says reports, particularly when comparing itself to the Nvidia RTX 3090. The RTX 3090 is one of the top regarded GPUs in the world now, and it is one of the most famous for its power output for its users, apart from its LHR caps.

Apple M1 Ultra: Not Faster than Nvidia RTX 3090

Apple unveiled the M1 Ultra in the recent Peek Performance event in early March and it boasted of a fast performance that beats the other devices available to many. One of its many comparisons and targets is the Nvidia RTX 3090, and The Verge reported a new benchmark test that contradicts Apple's claims from its recent showcase.

The Verge claimed that Apple "could never win" against the RTX 3090 and it presented concrete pieces of evidence here, focusing on its results from the many processes it tested. Apple's M1 Ultra cannot match up against the RTX 3090 in terms of raw GPU performance and that says a lot for the new Silicon processor with improved outputs.

Apple's M1 Ultra Silicon Chip Performance

The March 8 event boasted charts that explain the M1 Ultra's performance and used the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3090 to compare its performance, for the public to scale. It said that the new chip is better than everything out there, even beating its previous M1 Pro chipset that the company said is the former best in Apple's processes.

M1 Ultra's Unified vs. External GPUs

An all-in-one device to control all of a computer's performance is a massive thing in the tech industry now, as it consists of fewer parts to add to a device, thereby putting all processes in a single chip. Instead of a CPU connecting with a GPU that taps into the memory before making all the processes work, Apple offers a unified Silicon chip for its products.

However, as much as it is saving the company materials to produce it and offer a seamless performance that relies on the chip alone for all processes, the M1 Ultra is not perfect. It still has its flaws despite boasting of a massive performance that pairs well with the Mac Studio device, also despite it being better than the M1 Pro.

Apple is targeting the market with a unified device that was said to work better than devices with designated CPUs and GPUs. Indeed that it gives the public an all-in-one process that avoids the need to purchase the top-spec CPU to pair with an industry-leading GPU like the RTX 3090.

The Cupertino giant offers ease to get a powerful service in one, but not necessarily beating other's performance according to the benchmark test.
