Apple is now offering to repair Face ID issues without the need to replace the entire iPhones for users, and this is something that the company would observe for its different devices. The repair would include the lineup from the iPhone XS to the latest, iPhone 13, but leaves out the question for the parts' availability from Apple.

There are speculations regarding the Face ID parts to come for the self-repair program of Apple, especially as it already announced the feature available for users in the country.

However, it remains unknown if Apple will begin distributing this upon request of a user that wants to do the repairs on their own and skip bringing it to the service centers.

It is important to note that there is still a global component shortage aside from the chip shortage that affects the entire industry of providing parts, with Apple also experiencing it internally.

Apple Face ID: No More Smartphone Replacement

report by Mac Rumors detail that Apple is already issuing Face ID repairs for most models of the iPhone lineup and it would no longer have the need to replace the entire device.

The announcement only means that Apple already has enough TrueTone and Face ID modules that would be available for replacement, compared to before.

Different users prefer smartphone replacement, but some want to have their device back, having access to its files and settings that would need to migrate when replacing the device.

Apple's Right to Repair

On the last iOS 15.2 Beta, the Cupertino giant removed the bricking of the operating system for iPhones when getting their Face ID repairs done on third-party services or DIY operations. The initiative is under Apple's adherence to the "Right to Repair" laws of the country, giving users a chance to fix their devices without the need to bring them to Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs).

The previous model of the iPhone, 2021's iPhone 12 already offered to replace cracked screens without the need to replace the entire device, and this is different from what Apple previously gave customers. The replacement gives users the chance to still utilize the phone they originally bought, not need to import or export files for this transition.

The self-repair program gives people a chance to have their hands-on experience with their device, and it gives them a sense of entitlement or control over it. However, bringing it to repair centers would guarantee a full function for the device, as some would not work within the app.

Nevertheless, Face IDs bring a massive problem during repairs as it gets disabled after, with Apple already offering it, without the need to replace the entire device.
