Niantic's "Pokemon Go," is interactive gameplay that requires players to walk out in the open.

However, the pandemic forced everyone to stay inside of their homes. As a result, the developers released pandemic-driven bonuses to cater to its players who cannot go outside.

But now, the world is slowly going back to normal. As a result, "Pokemon Go" recently announced that it would officially roll back several in-game bonuses, and implemented features during the pandemic.

At the same time, the game will release a handful of brand-new bonuses designed to entice players to explore the world once again.

'Pokemon Go:' Pandemic-Driven Bonuses

"Pokemon Go" was forced to adapt to the stay-at-home trend in line with the COVID-19 pandemic. To cater to its avid players, the game carefully optimized some of its aspects to prevent players from going to crowded locations.

But according to ComicBook, Niantic recently announced that it would start letting go of its pandemic-driven bonuses as the people are now free to explore the outside world.

The changes would begin in the latter part of July.

'Pokemon Go' Changes

Some of the significant changes that "Pokemon Go" will undergo will be the reversion of gym and PokeStop interaction to their pre-pandemic level, decreased effectiveness for stationary players, and reduced total number of gifts that players receive from their Buddy daily.

'Pokemon Go:' Region-Exclusive Bonuses

ComicBook also mentioned in another report that "Pokemon Go" would add region-exclusive bonuses to the game in the form of costumed Pokemon.

The company announced that it would add a new, special Pikachu wearing an Okinawan kariyushi shirt. The costumed Pikachu will be available in Okinawa, Japan. It is only considered a limited release, so trainers from the region should try to capture the Pokemon as soon as they could encounter it.

Niantic also confirmed that it aims to launch more costumed Pokemons that will be exclusive to other areas around the world.

To celebrate "Pokemon Air Adventures'" upcoming celebration, "Pokemon Go" will drop Shiny Corsola to the game for the first time. It will be a permanent addition to "Pokemon Go's" lineup.

Exploration Bonuses

Furthermore, players would receive new exploration bonuses:

  • Up to two free Raid Passes daily by spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • 10x XP bonus by turning PokeStop for the first time
  • Guaranteed gifts for every PokeStop spin
  • Benefits for Incense effectiveness as player moves

The developers also confirmed that some pandemic-driven bonuses would be permanent parts of the game, such as:

  • No walking required for every Go Battle League
  • Incense duration will be retained at 60 minutes
  • Trainers can still open 30 gifts daily
  • Players may challenge Trainers with a QR Code
  • Players can carry up to 20 gifts in their Item Bags
  • Players will still receive 3x the Stardust and XP for the first Pokemon catch of the day.
