A Chinese regulator revealed information regarding the batteries and RAM of Apple's new iPhones, namely the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

Apple does not specify the battery size and RAM of its iPhones, so the information on the components usually comes from regulators and benchmark tests. With the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max preparing to launch this week, more details about the smartphones will likely follow.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR Batteries

The regulatory filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR were first reported by MyDrivers, revealing the capacity of the batteries that will power the 2018 iPhone models.

The iPhone XS will have a 2,658 mAh battery, which is surprisingly smaller when compared to the 2,716 mAh battery of its predecessor, the iPhone X. The small reduction is unusual because the two smartphones have the same size, but the iPhone XS is expected to have a longer battery life with 30 more minutes of usage time compared to the iPhone X.

The iPhone XS Max, meanwhile, will have a larger battery of 3,174 mAh to power its bigger OLED screen. The smartphone will also provide longer usage time compared to the iPhone X, by 1.5 hours.

Lastly, the iPhone XR will have a 2,942 mAh battery that will provide 1.5 hours more usage time compared to the iPhone 8 Plus. The long battery life is attributed to its LCD display, compared to the OLED screen of the iPhone XS.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR RAM

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were revealed to contain 4 GB of RAM, 1 GB more compared to the iPhone X and representing the most RAM that Apple has ever included in its iPhones.

The iPhone XR, meanwhile, is powered by 3 GB of RAM, 1 GB more compared to the iPhone 8 and the same as the iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple To Launch 2018 iPhones

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be released on Sept. 21, with starting prices of $999 and $1,099, respectively. The iPhone XR, meanwhile, will arrive in Apple stores on Oct. 26 with a starting price of $749.

Arriving before the launch of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max is iOS 12, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system. New features that users should definitely try out include Memojis, Screen Time, and Live Listen for AirPods.

The 2018 iPhone models were unveiled in the same event that also featured the Apple Watch Series 4.
