Billionaire and space entrepreneur Robert Bigelow revealed on CBS's 60 Minutes show on Sunday that he is convinced that Earth has had visits from aliens and UFOs from extraterrestrial worlds.
The Bigelow Aerospace CEO, whose company is working with NASA to develop an expandable craft that humans can use in future spaceflights, said that he is absolutely convinced about the existence of aliens when he was asked if he believes in these beings. His answer was also an affirmative when asked if he believes that UFOs have visited Earth.
Experiences That Point To Existence Of Aliens
Bigelow shared that he first became interested in aliens after his grandparents experienced a close encounter with an unidentified flying object on a canyon road outside of Las Vegas.
"It really sped up and came right into their face and filled up the entire windshield of the car," he said. "And it took off at a right angle and shot off into the distance."
Besides sparking his interest in extraterrestrial beings, the story also has something to do with the alien illustration that looks out from the side of Bigelow Aerospace's headquarters in Las Vegas.
The billionaire also said that he has his own share of close encounters himself but did not divulge the specifics of these circumstances.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also been referring reports of UFOs and other mysterious phenomena to one of the companies that Bigelow owns.
Alien And UFO Enthusiast
Bigelow's said that he has spent millions in the pursuit of his alien obsession. For decades, he has been active in the hunt for UFOs and weird phenomena.
He founded the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) to conduct scientific investigations of anomalies, mostly UFOs.
In 1994, he suggested working with a coalition of UFO organizations, which include Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, a nonprofit organization that investigates cases of alleged UFO sightings. The groups involved eventually formed the UFO Research Coalition (URC).
Rapid-Response Efforts For UFO Cases
Former MUFON international director James Carrion has negotiated a contract with Bigelow Aerospace to allow MUFON to organize a funded rapid-response effort that will allow investigators to be in the field on high-value cases of UFO within hours, a partnership that gave the space company access to MUFON case management system.
Other Personalities Who Believe In Aliens
Besides Bigelow, several other notable personalities believe and claim to have firsthand experience with aliens and UFO. Ghostbusters actor Dan Aykroyd, for instance, claimed to have seen four UFOs.
"Two specifically were definitely aerial constructs of some kind," he related. "One of them with a light, and one of them dull gray, and they were structures — one of them going very slow, one of them hovering over me."
Cosmologist Stephen Hawking also believes in the existence of aliens and their power to destroy humanity.
"As I grow older I am more convinced than ever that we are not alone," Hawking previously said. "One day we might receive a signal from a planet like Gliese 832c, but we should be wary of answering back."
