John Carpenter Announces New 'Halloween' Film
Director John Carpenter, who directed the first Halloween film in 1978, will serve as co-writer, executive producer, and creative consultant. The film will be co-financed by Blumhouse and Miramax, while Green and McBride will executive produce via their Rough House Pictures.
Carpenter announced the new film via his Facebook.
"So you say you want a Revolution? You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again? Well, so do I," he said in the post.
He then shared the new team composed of Green, McBride and himself. He also shared that he met with Jason Blum to seal the deal. Blum owns Blumhouse Productions, known for budget horror flicks such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, and Ouija.
"They get it. I think you're gonna dig it. They blew me away," Carpenter said. He added that he might compose the music for the film, something he did for the first three installments.
In 2016, "38 years after the original," Carpenter expressed his desire to create the"10th sequel the scariest" film in the franchise.
