Marvel's next major Star Wars comic is coming soon, and it couldn't star a more iconic character. Yes, Han Solo himself will soon be getting his own five-issue miniseries, and we've got a preview of some of the comic's interior artwork as well as the numerous variant covers over which collectors will soon be fighting.

Han Solo #1 will see Han and Chewbacca embark on a top-secret mission for the Rebellion. The only problem is that this top-secret mission also involves participating in an infamous high-stakes race across the galaxy known as the Dragon's Void Run ... a race that Han has always dreamt of winning.

That definitely complicates things, as Han will have to choose between his own personal desires or his newfound loyalty to the Rebellion.

"This is a Han Solo who doesn't quite know who he is anymore," writer Marjorie Liu told Entertainment Weekly for the comic's announcement. "He doesn't think about politics, and suddenly he's thrust into this life-or-death struggle for beliefs he didn't even know he cared about — and it has changed him. He doesn't want to believe
that change, but he has."

Liu says she was given free reign over the comic's story, the only condition being that it had to take place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Chewbacca will serve as Han's "better angel," while there will also be plenty of new characters with which the smuggler can rub shoulders. Liu says watching Han's death in The Force Awakens "colored" how she approached writing the book.

"That's been sort of an internal conversation with myself, whether I change certain beats, whether I do certain things to reflect this now-future canon that I know is coming down the line for him," she said.

It's a promising setup, and so far, the artwork we've seen from Mark Brooks knocks the concept out of the park. You can see some of his work below, alongside a number of variant covers.

No doubt, there will be even more variants for fans and collectors to seek out when Han Solo #1 officially releases on June 15.
