Apple's upcoming 'Let Loose' event this May is rumored to bring a new Apple Pencil 3, an update to the 2018 Apple Pencil 2, which was the last main update of the iPad accessory. 

Last year's Apple Pencil brought minimal upgrades only, with the main feature introduced converting its Lightning port to a USB-C charging port, alongside improved precision for sketches and more. 

For this year's update, the Apple Pencil 3 would bring additional features like haptic feedback and new gestures to enjoy for the device. 

Apple Pencil 3: Haptic Feedback, New Gestures Coming

Renowned analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg released a new report on speculations about the Apple Pencil 3, the iPad accessory that is expected to launch this May 7 at Apple's iPad event.

In Gurman's report, he regarded that massive new features are coming with this release, with haptic feedback among one of its top developments.

Haptic feedback would help improve the feel of writing with the Apple Pencil. This includes making the device feel heavier to replicate a crayon's use, among many other things.

However, the Apple Pencil 3 will also include new gestures, including a 'squeeze' gesture that will help bring up the contextual menu or assign it to make shortcuts to add text, shapes, stickers, and more.

Apple's new iPad accessory: What to expect?

May 7 will bring the world the iPad's new releases and accessories, and the Apple Pencil 3 is expected to launch alongside it, bringing its latest features for users to enjoy. 

It remains unknown what the full scope of this upgrade is. Still, apart from the features mentioned above, it is expected to bring more precision and accuracy improvements alongside the USB-C charging port introduced last year.

Apple Pencil: Is it an Essential Tool?

It was back in 2015 when Apple first introduced the world with the Apple Pencil, an accessory meant for the iPad lineup, and launched alongside the first iPad Pro which features the 12.9-inch tablet for users.

It follows up on Steve Jobs' first teaser of a dedicated Apple-made stylus for the iPhone, one that did not arrive for the world, but was made for the iPad to bring these advanced new features. 

The first-generation Apple Pencil was available for $99 only, and it already brought significant features for the iPad that opened up the way for creators or users to scribble, draw, edit, or take notes right on the tablet.

However, Apple kicked up the price for the 2nd generation Apple Pencil at around $120 but made it cheaper for the USB-C version that was made available for only $79. 

In terms of functionality and essence, when paired with the iPad, the Apple Pencil was highly regarded as a helpful tool, especially for creators and those in the creative department.

This year, the much-awaited iPad release would not be alone, as Apple would update the Apple Pencil 2 after around six years since the last major tweaks, now offering new features to enjoy.
